ARTISTS STATEMENT

In today's society we are told to be and do many things that in my mind simply can't be justified. I was once told that I could run and play in the mud with or without clothes, that I could be and do anything I set my mind to, yet before I could begin to grasp the meaning of such a privilege society told me otherwise. All of a sudden clothes were a MUST and bodies became nothing but a metaphor for sex and the sole purpose for the prestigious school uniform that covered me was to find an "honourable" career. In a life where all we can be sure of is one body, one chance, one life; putting on clothes and going to work, because 'they' said so, just doesn't make any sense. Shooting myself is just one page further away from the rule book society handed me and one click closer to loving the body I was given and taking responsibility for my own life.
