ARTISTS STATEMENT

I decided to take part in this project because I believe in today's society the female body is seen too much as something that should be hidden. People see the women who expose themselves as "whores" and "sluts". I want to see this changed and a sense of normality created around the female body. My mum has always subconsciously told me that rape is the fault of the victim, when I was 14 and wanted to wear some short-shorts, I was told "You'll never learn until you're crying naked in the corner of some dark room." Now, I'm not blaming my mum for this statement, It's ingrained in society and that's what I hope to change with this project. After participating in this project, I have gained more confidence and an ability to accept myself how I am, I hope that other women can take part and experience this great sense of comfort in their own skin.

who I'd most like to see shoot themselves: Jennifer Lawrence because she's so confident and she'd be the perfect person to show girls they shouldn't be ashamed of their bodies
